Service Details
  1. Signing up. To sign up, please contact us by email or by phone, and send us:
    • Current drafts of essays and recommendation letters, if any.

  2. Initial meeting to discuss your essays and application. After reviewing your drafts, we may ask you to complete a Background Questionnaire to help us gather more information. We will then assign a primary editor and a secondary editor to your application. Your primary editor will:
    • Arrange a time to meet with you by phone or in person (for 30 to 60 minutes) to:
      • Discuss your application, goals, record, and extra-curricular and work experience;
      • Map out the work that needs to be done on all your written submissions; and
      • Brainstorm on how best to approach your essay questions and applications.

  3. Editor’s email with work summary and comment outline. After your initial meeting, your primary editor will send you an email that covers the following:
    • A summary of the work that needs to be done; and
    • An outline of our ideas and comments to help you produce a revised draft or a first draft (if you do not have any draft yet) of each submission.

  4. Providing to your editor first or revised drafts. You and your editor will work out a time schedule for you to provide first or revised drafts of your essays and other submissions, incorporating the ideas and comments specified in your primary editor’s email. As a guideline, clients must provide editors with all document drafts according to the following time schedule:

    If submitting to
    1 school within 14 days of your editor’s email
    2 schools within 18 days of your editor’s email
    3+ schools within 4 weeks of your editor’s email

    During this time period, you can further discuss ideas and content with your primary editor by email.

  5. Total Edit first round. Your editors will complete a thorough review and edit of each draft.

    Editors will complete an edit according to the following time schedule:

    If we receive
    1 to 5 essays within 5 days of receiving your drafts
    6 to 10 essays within 7 days of receiving your drafts
    11+ essays within 10 days of receiving your drafts

    We will try always to complete our edits as quickly as possible. If our editors have more questions for you while editing your revised draft, the schedule may be delayed until we receive this information.
    Written submissions other than essays (resumés, recommendation letters, etc.) will be edited in a timely manner.

    Your payment must be received before we begin our first round of edits.

  6. Review and discussion of essays with editor. After receiving each revised draft, you and your editor will discuss by phone or email any remaining questions or issues regarding each draft.

  7. Total Edit second round. You will then submit your essay incorporating any additional comments from your editor for a final review and edit.

  8. Continuous guidance and application consulting. At any time you may communicate with your primary editor by email or phone to discuss application strategy and seek guidance. If you need to send correspondence (whether by email or formal letter) to your school, you may discuss this with your editor, who will advise and edit your draft correspondence.

  9. Free mock interview session. For a limited time, we are providing our Total Service clients one free 30-minute mock interview session by phone. After the interview, we will discuss your performance and offer suggestions for improvement.

  10. Note on rush requests. Because of the limited time to complete rush requests:
    • Clients need to inform us as soon as possible if they have a rush request;
    • We will accept rush requests only if there is already a substantial rough draft;
    • We reserve the right to refuse any rush request; and
    • We strive to have two rounds of review and edit on rush requests, but we cannot guarantee that drafts will receive more than one round of review and edit.

Recommendation Letter Service

| Pricing | Getting Started | Service Details | Back to Top

Our Recommendation Letter Service is designed to help you revise your recommendation letter if your recommender has asked you to draft it or if your recommender has given you permission to edit his or her draft.

A well-drafted letter of recommendation that provides personal and sincere insight into an applicant can significantly increase your chances of admission. Unfortunately, many recommendation letters are uninteresting, poorly-written, or too vague to offer any useful guidance to an Admissions Committee. Our highly qualified editors – all of whom have elite professional experience and are from the very top graduate schools – have the industry knowledge and skills to help you draft an insightful and distinct recommendation letter that will command attention.
